Deadline: Netflix is said to be near a deal to acquire “Beasts of No Nation,” the new film by “True Detective” director Cary Fukunaga. The movie, based on the novel by Uzodinma Iweala, has been screened quietly, and numerous bids have come in. Netflix is believed to be closing a deal in the vicinity of $12 million for worldwide rights. The big play is for its global streaming service, but the movie will have a theatrical component as well and a vigorous push in Oscar season. A deal would be “another statement buy for the disruptive Netflix.”
