Financial Times: The choice of Trevor Noah to lead “The Daily Show,” Comedy Central’s flagship program, is a gamble for owner Viacom. The company is under pressure as ratings and advertising revenue decline across its portfolio of youth-focused cable channels, including MTV and Nickelodeon. Noah is a South African comedian who is little known in the U.S. Still, the move echoes the selection of Jon Stewart 16 years ago when he succeeded original host Craig Kilborn.
