New York Times: From the very start, the debut of Jay Z’s Tidal was ridiculed as grandiose and out of touch. The celebrity-studded news conference announcement was bombastic but short on details. The fumbled introduction led to weeks of negative news coverage, as some artists accused Tidal of being primarily a vehicle to benefit music’s elite. CIO Vania Schlogel said that the story taking shape was inaccurate: “If I gave myself a grade, I would probably give myself a D.”
