Al Jazeera America Appoints New Chief Amid Turmoil

USA Today: Al Jazeera America said Wednesday Al Anstey has immediately taken over as its new CEO, replacing Ehab Al Shihabi amid low ratings and a lawsuit alleging sexism and anti-Semitism. The company, which is funded by the government of Qatar, didn’t say why the change was made. Al Shihabi, who led Al Jazeera’s effort to launch AJAM in 2013, will stay on as chief operating officer, AJAM confirmed after initially declining to comment about his employment status at the company.
