Albany Business Review: The naming rights for the Times Union Center in downtown Albany, N.Y., don’t expire for 2.5 years, but interest has already been expressed in the 17,500-seat arena. George Hearst, publisher of The Times Union, met about six months ago with the arena’s general manager to talk about possibly renewing the $3.5 million, 10-year contract that expires Dec. 31, 2017. “He indicated that he very much wants to retain the name of the Albany County Civic Center named after the Times Union. I asked him for his best offer and I am awaiting his letter.”
