Capital New York: Before the end of this year, the Huffington Post will release new tech and a new app, opening the floodgates for contributors. The goal: add 900,000 contributors to HuffPost’s 100,000 current ones. HuffPost’s new content management system will be extended to work as a self-publishing platform, allowing contributors to post directly from their smartphones. Behind the scenes, a streamlined approval system is intended to reduce intervention by editors. The new contributors will be essentially blogging — for free — for Verizon, HuffPost’s new owner.
