USA Today: Tidal has been sued for $50 million by Lil Wayne’s label, Cash Money Records, over music released by Weezy (Lil Wayne’s nickname) on Tidal last week. As the inevitable jokes went, Jay Z’s list of 99 problems just grew by 50 million. The suit alleges that Cash Money Records, co-founded by the rapper Birdman, had an exclusive recording deal with Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter), forged in 1998. That deal was violated by Tidal’s release of the rapper’s 2014 song “Glory” and, earlier this month, his “FWA” mixtape, the lawsuit asserted.
