Daily Beast: Weeks before Gawker suffered a very public meltdown over a widely condemned blog post, founder Nick Denton had dinner with Mark Cuban, the Dallas Mavericks owner and “Shark Tank” star. During an after-dinner walk, Denton is said to have floated the idea of the media mogul making a financial commitment to Gawker in return for an ownership stake. Denton also has been seeking advice and possibly significant financial involvement from eBay billionaire Pierre Omidyar, whose First Look Media has offices in the same building near Union Square where the 300-employee Gawker Media has just relocated.
