News & Tech: The American Society of News Editors has released its annual newsroom census. The survey determined that the newspaper industry saw a decrease of 3,800 full-time editorial staffers in 2014, bringing the total number of news employees in the United States down to 32,900. The drop represents the largest in a single year since the bleakest days for the industry in 2007 and 2008, during which time 10,000 news jobs were eliminated.
