Crain’s New York Business: Girls Who Code, a nonprofit that teaches computer skills to girls in low-income communities, has partnered with Viacom for its summer immersion program. The seven-week intensive course teaches computer-science skills such as HTML and JavaScript to 20 rising high-school junior and senior girls. Viacom sponsors field trips to its production studios, where the students learn about Web design and digital video. “There’s so much opportunity for young women to get involved.”
