Financial Times: The U.K.’s largest copyright collective has commenced legal action against SoundCloud, marking a new threat to the future of the Berlin-based streaming service. PRS for Music — which represents about 100,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers — said it had “no alternative” but to sue SoundCloud for copyright infringement, as the music service refused to agree a licensing deal. “Following five years of unsuccessful negotiations, we now find ourselves in a situation where we have no alternative but to commence legal proceedings against the online music service SoundCloud,” the society said.
