Tribune Publishing Shareholder Supports CEO

Chicago Tribune: When Tribune Publishing fired Austin Beutner as publisher and CEO of the Los Angeles Times and the San Diego Union-Tribune last month, it unleashed waves of criticism from West Coast civic leaders. But Oaktree Capital Management, the Los Angeles-based investment firm and Tribune Publishing’s largest shareholder, offered a different view this week. The course set by Tribune Publishing CEO Jack Griffin, which includes aggressive cost-cutting measures, has Oaktree’s blessing.
