USA Today: The National Geographic Society has cut about 180 jobs as it prepares to sell its media business to 21st Century Fox. The society, which has about 2,000 employees, also will offer an additional buyout package to eligible employees that is based on age and years of service. It said it currently doesn’t have a target number for the buyouts. The cost-cutting comes as the society plans to restructure its operations after a deal to sell its media business to Fox.
