Wall Street Journal: Late last year, Shari Redstone had a chance to cash out of her family’s media empire. Her father, 92-year-old Sumner Redstone, offered her a deal worth $1 billion for her 20% stake in National Amusements, the holding company for Viacom and CBS. But she rejected the offer, solidifying her position in the media empire. Shari Redstone signed a separate 2009 agreement with her father to only become nonexecutive chairman of CBS and Viacom upon her father’s death.
