Apple Acquires Startup That Reads Facial Expressions

USA Today: Digging into its vast war chest of cash, Apple has acquired Emotient, a startup that uses artificial intelligence to read facial expressions, for an undisclosed sum. Emotient, which describes itself on its web site as “the leader in emotion detection and sentiment analysis based on facial expressions,” is based in San Diego. It has raised $8 million in funding from Intel Capital and others.
