New York Post: Robert Shields has resigned from the New York Daily News to become editor of the freebie newspaper amNewYork, which is owned by Newsday parent Cablevision. At amNewYork, Shields replaces Peter Catapano, who quit in November to become the executive editor of Salon Media. Shields was the deputy digital editor at the Daily News.
