Crain’s Chicago Business: Michael Ferro, a tech entrepreneur who also has been trying to revive the Chicago Sun-Times, isn’t giving up on newspapers. He’s paying $44 million for a 16.5 percent stake in Tribune Publishing, which owns the Chicago Tribune and 10 other dailies. Ferro becomes chairman of Tribune Publishing and its largest shareholder. Tribune Publishing CEO Jack Griffin, meanwhile, retains his title.
