Sony’s ‘Angry Birds’ Rules the Roost at US Box Office

MarketWatch: “The Angry Birds Movie” took the top position at the box office this weekend, earning $39 million and beating “Captain America: Civil War” for the top spot, according to Box Office Mojo and comScore. The film, produced by Finnish company Rovi and Sony Pictures Entertainment for $73 million, is an adaptation of the mobile game, and was expected to fare well in its debut weekend. Hollywood has adapted a number of videogames for the silver screen and released films based on them to mixed success.
