Barnes & Noble to Shutter Major Outlet in Manhattan

Crain’s New York Business: Barnes & Noble will shutter its store at the base of Citigroup Center in midtown Manhattan at the end of the month to make way for a major renovation at the property. The bookseller said that it was in discussion about returning to the space once construction is complete. But permanently shuttering the store would seem to fit in with the chain’s recent plans to scale back its brick-and-mortar presence in the city in response to changing customer demands and online retailers.
