Anschutz’s Examiner.com Local News Site to Shut Down

Denver Business Journal: The Examiner.com experiment with citizen journalism is coming to an end, eight years after the company owned by Denver billionaire Phil Anschutz started local websites across the country. Examiner.com last week stopped posting new stories and has been alerting its writers that Examiner.com’s content will be taken down July 10. Examiner.com’s demise marks the end of an effort that regularly attracted tens of thousands of non-professional contributors writing on topics they were passionate about.
