Gannett Takeover Bid Deters Tronc Merger with Wrapports

Crain’s Chicago Business: Gannett’s bid to acquire Chicago Tribune parent Tronc may have gummed up interest earlier this year in bringing together Chicago’s two biggest newspapers. Tronc chief Michael Ferro approached Wrapports last spring about uniting its Chicago Sun-Times unit with Tronc’s Chicago Tribune, according to sources familiar with the situation.
