Deadline: Apple Studios has acquired the world rights to “Emancipation,” in the largest film festival acquisition deal in history. The action thriller, to star Will Smith, is about a runaway slave forced to outwit cold-blooded hunters and endure the swamps of Louisiana on a journey to join the Union Army.
