Local News Initiative: Mayur Gupta, a former executive with Spotify and Freshly, joined the Gannett USA Today Network in September as chief marketing and strategy officer. “We want to put customer value at the forefront of our business,” said Gupta. “We want to shift from being driven by user traffic, because this entire industry has monetized traffic, to now being driven by incremental value to our customers. We want to put the customer value first, which inherently drives a subscription mindset.”
