Daily News: Sam Simon, who co-created “The Simpsons” and used some of the proceeds to liberate elephants, has died at his home in Los Angeles. He was 59 and had been diagnosed with terminal colorectal cancer in 2012. Writer Ken Levine called Simon “the heart of the show,” the force behind “the tone, the storytelling, the level of humor.”
