Financial Times: The Guardian will name its new editor on Friday, having decided to overlook the bookies’ favorite for the role, people familiar with the process said. One of the world’s most read English-language publications online, the Guardian has been recruiting a successor to Alan Rusbridger, who steps down this year. Its final two-person shortlist consists of Kath Viner, currently the Guardian’s U.S. editor-in-chief, and Ian Katz, editor of the BBC’s “Newsnight” program.
