Freedom Files for Bankruptcy Auction of Newspapers

Orange County Register: The owner of the Orange County Register has filed a plan in U.S. bankruptcy court for a bankruptcy auction for the newspaper and other company assets that would result in a sale completed by March 31. The auction plan of Freedom Communications requires court approval. An investment group headed by Freedom CEO Rich Mirman had said it would make such a bid but has yet to formally do so.
