Crain’s New York Business: Time Inc., which has been on an acquisition tear since it went public in 2014, is buying the assets of ad-tech company Viant Technology. Based in Irvine, Calif., Viant describes itself as a “people-based performance platform,” meaning that it connects marketers with actual people, not cookies that track behavior on the web. Viant’s database of 1.2 billion registered users includes those it acquired with the company’s 2011 purchase of Myspace.
