Wall Street Journal: Cox Communications said it is shuttering its “Flare” suite of digital media services because it wasn’t able to monetize them in an increasingly competitive marketplace. The products included a remote storage service akin to Dropbox called myFlare, a $9.99-a-month videogame service FlarePlay, and Flare Kids, a free web video app for children. The Flare digital media effort spanned three years, with Cox amping up its marketing push for FlarePlay and Flare Kids six months ago.
