New Media Group Snapping Up Smaller US Newspapers

Wall Street Journal: New Media Investment Group has been snapping up small newspapers nationwide. New Media, a generically-named company managed by private-equity firm Fortress Investment Group, has been one of the most aggressive buyers, snatching up 100 newspapers over the past two years. The company now owns 575 titles, running against the conventional wisdom that newspapers are a financial mess.
