Politico Founder Blasts News Biz for Falling Into ‘Crap Trap’

The Information: The outgoing CEO and co-founder of Politico, Jim VandeHei, has blasted the news industry for falling into “crap trap” journalism aimed at amassing big audiences at the expense of substantive coverage. VandeHei  is leaving the insider political news website to start a new venture, which he said would cover lots of topics and target audiences looking for real information. As for the business model, Vanderhei said his dream would be to create a company that doesn’t require any advertising.
