New York Times Media Journo Departs for ‘Vice on HBO’

Poynter: Ravi Somaiya, a media reporter for the New York Times, is leaving the newspaper to join the newsmagazine “Vice on HBO.” Somaiya, formerly an editor at Gawker, joined he New York Times in 2012. In a memo to staff, New York Times business editor Dean Murphy hailed Somaiya as “a collegial presence” who pitches in on the media beat and elsewhere.
