Comcast Set-Top Boxes to Take a Hit from Move by Obama

Philadelphia Business Journal: President Obama has endorsed the Federal Communications Commission’s proposed measures to open up the set-top box market to third-party providers. “While this will be a big pinch for companies like Comcast, that’s all it will be. This is not unlike the time when the only place to get a phone was to lease it from the phone company. Today we buy phones all over in retail stores. This impacted the phone companies back then and it will impact Comcast today, but it will not be fatal.”
