Daily News: A Manhattan lawyer has been charged with swindling investors in a failed $8 million bid to buy Maxim magazine. Harvey Newkirk faces charges of wire fraud and identity theft for allegedly lying to two lenders about his assets and collateral for the magazine takeover. The legal eagle is charged with carrying out the scheme with Calvin Darden Jr., who duped the investors in 2013 by pretending to be his dad, Calvin Darden. The dad once ran the U.S. operations of UPS. The duo tried to trick a third investor into handing over an additional $20 million.
