New York Post: Rumors are swirling that Gristedes boss John Catsimatidis is no longer the front-runner to buy the Daily News from real-estate mogul Mort Zuckerman. Sources are saying Zuckerman is hoping to sell to another suitor and that serious negotiations are already under way — with someone not named Catsimatidis. Those talks could wrap up in the next few weeks. The other party is said to be reaching out to the main trade unions to see what kind of concessions they would be willing to make to try to staunch the flow of red ink that is now reaching nearly $30 million a year.
