Gawker: A leaked legal licensing agreement between Sony Pictures and Marvel reveals that the Spider-Man character and his alter ego, Peter Parker, must possess certain characteristics. The agreement spells out traits that are mandatory, as well as those that are forbidden. Spider-Man “is Caucasian and heterosexual.” The character “does not use foul language beyond PG-13, does not smoke tobacco, does not abuse alcohol.”
