Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal: Hubbard Broadcasting’s Reelz TV network has acquired the rights to the Miss USA pageant after it was unceremoniously dumped by NBC following controversial remarks by co-owner Donald Trump. NBC backed out of the show after Trump characterized Mexican immigrants as drug dealers and rapists during his first campaign speech as a 2016 presidential hopeful. Reelz, a cable and satellite channel owned by St. Paul-based Hubbard, said in a news release it took on the pageant because it is an “integral part of the American tradition.”
