Fortune:  TheMaven, a Seattle-based digital media company, was in the news earlier this month when it gutted Sports Illustrated, laying off 40 staffers. In August, TheMaven’s management expressed “substantial doubt about the company’s ability to continue.” On Tuesday, the company said it had raised $20 million.
