Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios Shutdown to Impact 200 Jobs

Chicago Sun-Times: Oprah Winfrey will not renew a lease on the longtime home of her TV talk show, Harpo Studios, and will close at the end of the year. The OWN network has begun transitioning Harpo Studios productions to a new studio in West Hollywood, Calif. Eligible employees among the 200 working at Harpo may apply to freelance and do contract work on the five TV shows that will move to California. “Harpo Studios in Chicago was not just my home but also my life for nearly 30 years,” Winfrey said in a statement.
