Gawker Grabs Google Exec for Chief Tech Officer

FishbowlNY: “I am pleased to announce the arrival of a new CTO, who joins Gawker Media from Google,” writes Gawker chief Nick Denton in an internal memo. “Ian Fette’s arrival next week is a new impetus for the technology team that underpins our media brands and the communities of writers and readers that gather around them. Ian began his career at the Defense Intelligence Agency and latterly managed development of the Google Chrome browser. He will be a great addition, applying experience in machine learning and other software skills to the media platform. Ian will also be part of the managing partnership.”
