Guardian: The Times of London has won its legal battle in the Dublin high court for the right to promote its new digital newspaper for Ireland as its “Irish edition.” A judge refused to grant the Irish Times an injunction on the basis that the use of the phrase “The Times Irish Edition” amounted to an infringement of the Irish Times’s trademark. The case arose from the decision by Rupert Murdoch’s London-based Times to publish an edition of the Times targeted at the Irish market as part of a seven-day subscription package with the Sunday Times.
