Wall Street Journal: Advance/Newhouse has acquired 1010data for $500 million, indicating the growing interest in technologies that can process large amounts of data. Advance/Newhouse is an affiliate of Advance Publications, which operates cable company Bright House Networks and Conde Nast magazines. Bright House president Nomi Bergman joins 1010’s board. She said 1010data provides “a quick ramp up for companies [onto a big data platform], and customers love them as a result. My experience in the cable industry is that it takes years for companies to get up and running” on this.
