BuzzFeeder Questioned Over ‘Accidental’ Tweet

Next Web: BuzzFeed top editor Ben Smith tweeted a screenshot of a private DM conversation between himself and a reporter at the online publication the Intercept. In the exchange of messages, the reporter revealed plans to leave the publication and inquired about jobs at BuzzFeed. Smith later said, via public Twitter replies, that he posted the image by “accident” and could not find the screenshot on his phone. He followed up by correcting his initial assertion. One observer tweeted: “I don’t understand how you ‘accidentally’ tweet a picture of a screenshot.'”
