Wall Street Journal: BuzzFeed and Yahoo Japan plan to launch a social news website in Japan later this year through a joint venture. BuzzFeed will hold a 51 percent stake in BuzzFeed Japan and Yahoo Japan will hold the rest. It will be BuzzFeed’s first overseas expansion via a joint venture with a local company. Yahoo Japan said that it will aim to serve the needs of Japanese users by combining BuzzFeed’s expertise in creating editorial content with its own insight on how to drive traffic to the new service.
