Capital New York: The New York Times’s media desk is in reconstruction mode following a turbulent few months that saw the sudden death of a star columnist and the departures of numerous reporters during the newspaper’s latest round of buyouts and layoffs. Among other moves, Bill Brink, who has served on the desk since 2011, has been promoted to media editor. The Times still needs to find a successor to David Carr, the beloved Monday columnist who died unexpectedly last month.
