USA Today: Google has made it official: It is getting into U.S. car insurance. The Internet giant announced that it is launching a feature called Google Compare for Auto Insurance — a comparison shopping website that lets consumers compare rates from different insurance carriers. The option to compare rates will pop up when a consumer searches on Google for “car insurance.” However, several major U.S. insurance carriers are said to be reluctant to work with Google on the new service.
